Mending and Repair
I see torn seams and broken zippers thrown away every week. Most of it just needs a little time and the right stitch. It started with my own clothes, then it grew into mending for neighbors. Now I want to make it a real part of Folk Indigo, because the need is bigger than my own closet. I teach mending too, at Off Pike Market and through Porching Around workshops. [See upcoming events]. But if you just want it mended and off your hands, send it to me. I'll take care of it by hand, and I'll show you what I did.
How it works
Torn, worn, or falling apart, I mend it by hand rather than let it go. Depending on what your piece needs, the repair can disappear into the fabric or stay visible, a small record of a life well worn. Checkout covers the $5 starting price and shipping.
1. Fill out the intake form Tell me what's damaged, what the fabric is, and whether you want the repair to disappear or stay visible. A photo helps me quote you accurately, so include one if you can.
2. Pay the starting price and shipping at checkout If you're mailing your piece in, checkout collects the $5 starting price plus a flat $15 shipping fee right away, which covers postage both directions. Once I've actually seen your piece, I'll send a follow-up quote for the real repair cost.
If you'd rather skip shipping altogether, you have two other options. Within 20 miles of Norwood (45212), I'll pick up your piece and drop it back off for a flat $10 round trip. Or hand it to me directly at Off Pike Market and pick it up there when it's done, no shipping or pickup fee at all.
3. Send me your piece Once your quote is settled, I'll send a prepaid shipping label if you're mailing it in, or confirm a pickup time if you're local. From there, it's just a matter of getting it to me so I can get started.
4. I'll send it back When it's mended, cleaned up, and ready to wear again, it comes back to you the same way it went out. Mail-in pieces ship back; local pieces get dropped off or handed back at the market.
5. Leave a review Once you have your piece back in hand, I'll ask for a quick review. It helps other folks trust the process, and it helps me keep this service going.
